hi steve glad to see your back racing, will you be at plymouth?
    set up

front .5 springs, 5 degree blocks, all washers back, long arms and carbon
    brace.

rear copper spring, 60wt oil, heavy damper lube, white side springs and
    about 1mm rear pod droop.

tend to find this works pretty much everywhere, club night at chesterfield or national on duo cheers andy

    Hi Steve,

The CRC team has had some good success at all the recent events starting with Hupo's win at the IIC in Vegas. Hupo and Jilles were on the front row with Hupo going on to win.

At last weekend's Cleveland Indoor Champs race, CRC won 2 out of the four 1:12th classes.

    Our basic starting setup for high bite carpet is as follows;

    Front
** Magenta front tires 1.65", full super glue for high bite, safety glue for med bite or lower
** .45 mm spring with very little preload
** Negative .5 degee camber, about -1 for medium grip.
    ** 10 degree dynamic blocks
    ** caster - 2 shims back
    ** 3.5 mm ground clearance
** Long ball front suspension for high bite, short ball with front graphite cross brace for med - low bite.

    Mid
** Red center spring (copper for more steering on smooth high bite)
    ** 40 weight oil
** Shock length so rear pod droops .5 mm when held in the air
** Shock preload so straight line through chassis and bottom plate when race ready
** 3.75 mm ride center chassis
** Batteries forward for anything hotter than 10.5. Back for 13.5, 17.5

    Rear
** White side spring with no preload
    ** 20 K in tubes
** 4 mm rear ride height
** Brushless offset pod (short hub)
** Grey-low rear tires 1.70" for high bite, 1.75 for med - low bite. Maybe Yellow rears with some sidewall superglue.

    Notes:

** Need to test long/short upper arm. Some personal preference and feel overrides a general setup. Typically, long arm makes the car feel more "round" in the corners. Short arm with brace for more center corner turn-in.

** Need to experiment with battery position. Battery back makes the car steer big time, forward "numbs" the steering a bit.

** Back to front rake angle (higher in the back) adds steering. Can be adjusted for feel.

** Pod rake effects rear grip and can be tested. Lowering the rear axle to significantly to raise the pod to high levels like 5 mm and then adjusting the preload to lower the car back down to 3 - 4 mm will give the car more rear grip. Be sure that the car still only has the .5 mm droop when held in the air by the antenna.

Like I mentioned, the Gen X cars have performed very well in both stock and modified trim at all of the major races.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for the support,
    Frank
