Hi there,
Im getting a PS-713 and was wondering what people thought of it. Also does anyone know if it will be ok with a Futaba FP-R122JE receiver.(the basic 2ch one which costs £18)
All replies appreciated ;D

They are very good servos, and should work fine with your receiver. I am fairly sure this servo needs a FET wire from your speedo. I am sure someone will comment on that.
Hi
Yes they do need a FET wire. They are a good servo i have had mine for about 6 months now and i can't fault it ;D
Rob
Thankyou. Could you please explain what a FET wire is?
Thanks for the help
Chris
yup they are 4 wire
also get a good servo saver ,gears can be a bit fragile
IMHO
fet wire is the extra (blue) wire that comes from the servo
needs to plug into the blue wire from the speedo if it has one
if not then it goes to positive
its what powers the servo

Hi
I can only say the basics about a FET servo, all i know about them is that they have a blue wire which needs to connect to either a blue wire from your speedo (if there is one) or to your positive battery wire from your speedo. All it basically does (i think) is give the servo 7.2V instead of the normal 6V which they get from the receiver therefore, i think, it makes it a bit faster.
(im a bit indesisive by the way......... i think)

Its an additional wire to the servo that comes from the speed controller, with a choke inserted in the join. This supplies the FETs in the servo with 7.2 volts for faster action. The remaining three wires plug into the receiver as usual. The choke comes with the servo, looks like a small resistor, but is actually a small coil of wire and helps to prevent interference.
The 713 takes it's power direct from the battery (7.2v) instead of the receiver (6v or less). This makes it faster and more powerful.
To do this it has an extra blue wire. There's two ways this is connected. One is into the blue wire pre-fitted with some speed controllers. Two is by soldering the other half of the blue wire (supplied) somewhere along the + wire of your battery (mine is attached at the speed controller). The servo won't work unless the blue wire is attached.
If you are buying it new, the instructions should cover it.
The extra blue wire does not go to the reciever. IT goes to either the spare thin blue wire at the speedo, or the positive battery lead. Remembering to use the supplied "Fet choke"

Wow FOUR identical replies at the same time!
I am sure thats what I said :P ;D ;D Glad we all agree, would have been a laugh if they were all different - lol
